2011 Maybach range

We've all but assumed Maybach was a goner. With the economic downturn and sales hovering around the 300-unit mark annually, Mercedes-Benz' rebadged uber-lux brand makes a hard business case for itself. However, Automobile reports that Maybach may be down, but it's not out, and a range of new products are on the way.

With the S-Class due to be replaced in 2012, the range-topping Benz will offer up its revised platform for five new Maybach models. The standard 57 and 62 will benefit from upgraded sheet metal, interiors and electronics, while a CLS-like four-door "coupe" will be added to the line-up along with the oft-rumored long-wheelbase convertible – a sort of mash-up between the 62 Laundaulet and Mercedes' Ocean Drive concept from 2007.

Despite M-B's ongoing issues with CAFE standards, motivation will continue to be provided by the same 6.0-liter V12 powering current Maybachs, although horsepower is expected to rise, torque output could crest 850 pound-feet and Mercedes' seven-speed automatic will be part of the package.

More intriguingly, Automobile says that with the new transmission, an electric motor could be fitted, boosting output by 20 hp and allowing the massive sled to drive in full electric mode for up to 10 miles. There's also talk of a new nine-speed automatic transmission being fitted and fuel economy rising by around 25% – so figure around a 2-3 mpg improvement for both the 545-hp and 630-hp versions.

In order for Maybach to survive, it has to be more than just a reworked S-Class and to that end, an insider told Automobile that future models will be "jewels on wheels and at last worthy of the brand.

ViewSonic ViewPad 7 Specs & Review: Android 2.2 tablet phone priced At £350

Viewsonic comes up with 7’’ Froyo tablet called the Viewpad 7: A review

The 3D TV is not the only big announcement that is waiting at the IFA that is going to held in Berlin among the other news makers is the Tablet computer that is coming from the house of Viewsonic (ViewSonic Corporation is a manufacturer and provider of visual technology, All in One PCs and wireless monitors the company has headquarters at California, United States. ViewSonic soon displaced the rest of these companies to emerge as the largest display manufacturer from America/Japan at the turn of the millennium and now Viewsonic Is stepping foot into the tablet computer business.) computers. The tablet is called the Viewsonic Viewpad 7 and is running the Android 2.2 [Froyo] version operating system. The device is more or less a Hybrid smartphone like the Dell streak than a usual tablet PC. It has the capabilities to work as a full size sim smartphone as well as a fully featured tablet computer.

The Viewpad is world’s first 7’’ tablet that is running the Android 2.2 operating system. The others are smaller than the Viewpad. Apart from running the Froyo operating system the features of the Viewpad include: full 3G and phone functionality [SIM card slot, SMS/MMS, VOIP and normal voice calls], support for multi-tasking, front and rear-facing cameras, support for Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/A-GPS connectivity, support for hand-written note taking, built-in e-book reader, and comes with a microSD slot [expandable up to 32 GB].

The display resolution is 800 x 480 pixel resolution which indeed is pretty great even for a tablet computer. It also boasts advanced features including Assisted GPS and an office document reader, along with the capability for hand-written note taking. There is also an e-book reader, when combined with the crystal clear LED screen, makes the ViewPad 7 an invaluable travelling companion.

“We are proud to announce another world first at Viewsonic. 3G phone functionality combined with dual cameras gives the ability for use of Android apps to use augmented reality or video calling on the move with the benefit of an excellent 7? screen” says Derek Wright, European Product Marketing Manager. “The ViewPad 7 is aimed at users who require the ‘always on’ connectivity they are used to from a mobile phone with a more agreeable screen size for longer term use.”

The device is supposed to have a price range of around $350 which indeed is the optimal price range for a device with such features. Though we are not stating that the device will be a competition to the iPad’s dominance over the market but it will definitely be a a low cost replacement for those who were looking for one.

Another tablet computer is going to enter the market (The maker looks to be targeting the European markets first, so the device may be released first in the U.K or both U.K. and the U.S. simultaneously) another threat to the iPad coming your way. What do you plan are you still going the iPad way or did your mind change? Do let us know in the comments section below.

Top 10 tips and tricks for Windows Vista

Top 10 tips and tricks for Windows Vista

1.Explore the new Windows Vista start menu.

Looking for specific applications, Web sites, and e-mails is faster than ever with the streamlined Windows Vista start menu. To find a specific application or file, click the Windows key on the keyboard (or open the start menu) and enter the file name in the Instant Search field. As you type, Windows Vista dynamically searches filenames, metadata, and the full text of all files and displays the choices by file type. For example, type â€Å“out” to find Microsoft® Outlook®.

2. Discover the new search explorer.

Try filtering by type using the search pane and selecting Documents. Next choose to see your files in another way, via the new stack view. Select the author column header control drop down menu, and choose the option to Stack by author. Explore all the documents by a particular author by double clicking on an author̢۪s stack. Now, save that search as a new search folder. Choose the option Save Search found on the top command bar and name and save your search folder. In the future, to
re-run it, simply select the Searches folder link on the left side navigation pane, and double click on your search folder.

3. Experience the enhanced user interface.

If your PC supports the Windows® Aero™ user experience, open multiple files and see how easy it is to locate the right open window using the breakthrough Windows Flip (simply ALT+TAB) or Flip 3D (Windows key+TAB).

4. Browse multiple Web sites.

Tabbed browsing in Internet Explorer® 7 enables a single Internet Explorer window to run with the convenience of multiple pages. Open a new page by clicking the empty tab on the toolbar or by right-clicking any hyperlink and choosing New Tab. Tabs can also be right-clicked to refresh individual pages or refresh pages as a group. You can close either individual tabs or an entire group, and you can save tabs as one favorite group. With the Quick Tabs feature, the icon just to the right of the Favorites icon, thumbnail images of all open tabs can be seen in a single view helping you manage multiple open tabs.

5.Print picture perfect Web content.

Most Web sites are simply not formatted to fit cleanly on a standard piece of paper. With the new shrink to fit printing feature found in Internet Explorer 7 Web sites will no longer get cut off when sent to the printer.

6. Collaborate with a co-worker.

Want an easy way to share files and applications with a colleague or customer—even when you may not be part of the same network? Windows Meeting Space is a new experience in Windows Vista that enables you to start an impromptu collaboration session with other Windows Vista users. Simply open Windows Meeting Space and start a session. Windows Vista will automatically detect other Windows Vista users that are on the same sub-net infrastructure or close enough for you to create an
ad hoc (direct PC-to-PC connection) wireless connection. Once you have invited them and they have accepted,
you can share documents by simply dragging a document to the Handouts area on the bottom right which instantly replicates that file across the other meeting participants̢۪ machines. Dragging the file to the presentation area on the left side starts application sharing, enabling the other participants to watch as you present that file. If someone has a good edit for your file, you can make that edit in real time, or pass control of the application directly to that participant for them to make that edit for you.

7. Share a folder or file directly from your PC.

Windows Vista improves on the Windows network folder sharing experience first introduced with Windows XP by giving you more flexibility in what you can share with other people and improving the setup process. With Windows Vista you can now share folders and individual files with any other user on the same corporate network. From any explorer, select a file or folder and on the command bar choose the option to Share. Enter the name of another user on the same network, and give them appropriate rights of access—reader, co-owner, etc. To help close the loop, Windows Vista can even automatically compose an e-mail to the individuals with which you have shared the content. The auto-generated e-mail contains a hyperlink to the shared content, enabling the recipient to instantly be taken to the shared content

8. Create an XPS Document.

XPS documents are a new archiving format perfect for preserving content and for securely sharing information in an application independent way. To create an XPS document, open any document in virtually any application, and select the print option. In the printer selection menu, choose Microsoft XPS Document Writer, and save the file. Double click on the file, which should open it in the XPS Viewer, which is hosted by Internet Explorer 7. The XPS document is a pixel-perfect rendition of the original source material.

9. Speed up your PC's performance.

Windows Vista introduces a new concept for adding additional performance to a running system. Windows ReadyBoost™ lets people use flash memory on a USB 2.0 drive, SD Card, Compact Flash, or other memory form factor to provide additional memory cache—memory that the computer can access much more quickly than it can access data on the hard drive. Insert a USB 2.0 memory drive with at least 512 MB capacity. When prompted, click use this device to speed up my computer.

10. Recover a previous version of a document.

Windows Vista introduces a new feature: Previous Versions. This allows you to â€Å“roll back” the clock to an earlier version of a file that you may have accidentally saved over or edited. In the Documents Explorer, open a document, edit it, save it, and then close it. While selecting the document, choose the Previous Versions option on the command bar, which will bring up a list of previously saved versions of the individual file. Choose a previous version and Windows Vista will restore your file to that version. Careful: all edits since that version will be lost.

Giving a password to the 'Guest' user account

Giving a password to the 'Guest' user account

Windows XP contains a guest account (turned off by default in XP Pro) that has the rather unique distinction of not having a password. Not only does the account not have a password, you can't even set one. As you can see, if this account is active, it presents a slight security risk. Fortunately, there is an easy way to assign a password to the guest account:

To apply a Password to the guest account:

Using an account with administrative privileges, go to the command prompt ('start\run' then type 'cmd') and enter the following command:

'Net user guest password'

Now go to 'start\control panel\user accounts' and activate the guest account if it is not already. You will be able to assign and change its password.

PC mouse can cause arm pain

PC mouse can cause arm pain

NEUSS: Frequent incorrect use of a mouse when working on the computer can lead to a condition known as Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI), otherwise known as mouse arm, warn experts.

"Tingling, numbness, and weakness in the lower arm and hands are the first signs of overstressing of the tendons and nerves due to monotonous motion," explains Frank Bergmann, head of the German Association of Nerve Doctors (BVDN).

"Constant clicking with the computer mouse and an unnatural hand position cause damage to the tissues that over the long term can lead to inflammation of the nerve fibres," Bergmann says.

Even initially minor symptoms represent a danger that the brain may form connections between the pain and the activity of clicking.

"The mouse click movement on its own can then trigger pain, even if the physical damage in the arm has already healed," Bergmann points out.

Ergonomic working methods can prevent RSI. "Many programme functions can be executed with keyboard commands to restrict use of the mouse. Double clicks can also be reprogrammed onto the middle mouse button or the scroll wheel," the neurologist says.

The size of the mouse should also be appropriate for the size of your hand. Cold wrist rests can guard against inflammation. Padded rests for the ball of the hand can also reduce the strain on the arm.

Alternate input options like voice recognition or graphic tables should also be considered. "Stretching exercises, natural arm and hand movements as well as frequent brief breaks help keep the arm musculature relaxed," Bergmann recommends.

"If symptoms appear like a pulling in the lower arm or pain when weight is put on, go see a neurologist. The longer the delay in visiting the doctor, the higher the chances that the injury will become permanent," Bergmann says.

Exercises For The Face

Exercises For The Face

We've all heard that laughter is the best medicine. When it
comes to the face, laughter will immediately relax facial
tension. Facial exercises, done regularly, can help tone
the muscles in the face...

Scrunch up your whole face for a few seconds so that your nose
is wrinkled, your forehead furrowed, and your eyes and mouth are
tightly closed...

Do the opposite. Open your mouth and eyes as wide as you can...

*

*

Close your mouth again, purse your lips, and push your mouth up to
the left, then push to the right...

Grin - as if from ear to ear and open your eyes wide again...

Hold and repeat the grin, but this time, tuck in your chin to
tighten...

And...Believe it or not, chewing gum also exercises the facial
muscles and will improve circulation...
