ViewSonic ViewPad 7 Specs & Review: Android 2.2 tablet phone priced At £350

Viewsonic comes up with 7’’ Froyo tablet called the Viewpad 7: A review

The 3D TV is not the only big announcement that is waiting at the IFA that is going to held in Berlin among the other news makers is the Tablet computer that is coming from the house of Viewsonic (ViewSonic Corporation is a manufacturer and provider of visual technology, All in One PCs and wireless monitors the company has headquarters at California, United States. ViewSonic soon displaced the rest of these companies to emerge as the largest display manufacturer from America/Japan at the turn of the millennium and now Viewsonic Is stepping foot into the tablet computer business.) computers. The tablet is called the Viewsonic Viewpad 7 and is running the Android 2.2 [Froyo] version operating system. The device is more or less a Hybrid smartphone like the Dell streak than a usual tablet PC. It has the capabilities to work as a full size sim smartphone as well as a fully featured tablet computer.

The Viewpad is world’s first 7’’ tablet that is running the Android 2.2 operating system. The others are smaller than the Viewpad. Apart from running the Froyo operating system the features of the Viewpad include: full 3G and phone functionality [SIM card slot, SMS/MMS, VOIP and normal voice calls], support for multi-tasking, front and rear-facing cameras, support for Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/A-GPS connectivity, support for hand-written note taking, built-in e-book reader, and comes with a microSD slot [expandable up to 32 GB].

The display resolution is 800 x 480 pixel resolution which indeed is pretty great even for a tablet computer. It also boasts advanced features including Assisted GPS and an office document reader, along with the capability for hand-written note taking. There is also an e-book reader, when combined with the crystal clear LED screen, makes the ViewPad 7 an invaluable travelling companion.

“We are proud to announce another world first at Viewsonic. 3G phone functionality combined with dual cameras gives the ability for use of Android apps to use augmented reality or video calling on the move with the benefit of an excellent 7? screen” says Derek Wright, European Product Marketing Manager. “The ViewPad 7 is aimed at users who require the ‘always on’ connectivity they are used to from a mobile phone with a more agreeable screen size for longer term use.”

The device is supposed to have a price range of around $350 which indeed is the optimal price range for a device with such features. Though we are not stating that the device will be a competition to the iPad’s dominance over the market but it will definitely be a a low cost replacement for those who were looking for one.

Another tablet computer is going to enter the market (The maker looks to be targeting the European markets first, so the device may be released first in the U.K or both U.K. and the U.S. simultaneously) another threat to the iPad coming your way. What do you plan are you still going the iPad way or did your mind change? Do let us know in the comments section below.
